MWLC Honored Champion: Judy A.

19 Jun

Get to know one of our Honored Champions Judy!  She lost 48 lbs and counting at MWLC Livonia and her A1C is now in the normal range at 6.6 and she no longer needs insulin!  Her diabetes is now under control.  Read her story and see her video below.  What an inspiration!  Way to go Judy!

Your Story and Struggle

“My husband went to a Wounded Warriors fundraiser. He won the weight loss basket. In it was a 10 weeks free certificate for Medical Weight Loss. It was decided that I would use it due to my health conditions—hypertension, IDDM, high cholesterol, asthma, and depression. I was out of work for my asthma. I was on 86 units of Levemir insulin. I was tired all the time. I also have sleep apnea and wear a C-Pap machine.”

How has your life changed?

“I have so much more energy. I am no longer taking Insulin. After work, which is 3 midnight shifts a week, I am able to get some things done before going to bed. My clothes are now a 16 misses, almost a 14. I have a longer endurance when doing chores around the house, going up and down the stairs, and outdoor work. If my husband had not won that basket, I would have never considered Medical Weight Loss. They were able to adopt my food program to me working midnights.”

Advice to others starting the program

“This program is fantastic! I can’t say enough. The program is pretty easy to follow. The staff is very helpful. You don’t go hungry. I have found that I can stick to a diet plan, and make it work with mine and my family’s schedules. The food is delicious. The supplements and bars are too good—they make you want more.”

Top 3 tips to stay on track

  1. “Keep your food diary.”
  2. “Plan ahead if possible so you aren`t just getting things last minute.”
  3. “We are not perfect and we can fall off track. Just get back on the food plan and continue on.”

Is there anything else you would like us to know?

“I firmly believe God led me to Medical Weight Loss by my husband winning that basket. It showed me what I needed to do. The staff at the Livonia clinic are fantastic and very helpful with food preparation suggestions. I never dreamed I would lose so many inches and pounds, and get off my insulin in such a short time.”
