If you think back to 1986 so much has changed. Songs like Dionne Warwick’s That’s What Friends Are For topped the Billboard charts. General Mills launched Pop Secret microwave popcorn and Top Gun was the highest-grossing film. Back then, tanning was a hobby and a healthy diet meant reaching for Lean Cuisine or microwave meal.
Much has changed over three decades. But one thing remains the same. When we opened our doors 36 years ago this Spring, our Medical Weight Loss Clinic founders were dedicated to helping patients reach and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“Our goal was to help everyone who walked through our doors attain exactly what they needed,” said Kelly Smith, director of operations.
It’s still true today. But for some, this idea originally came as a shock. Physician-assisted weight loss programs represented a brand new approach back then.
“After all, the 1980’s were all about fads and excess - and that included dieting,” Kelly added. “People who sought to lose weight expected results to come easily and fast. Everywhere you turned, there was a new diet on the market. But that’s the thing about fads - they’re short-lived and often fizzle out as quickly as they appeared.”
Medical Weight Loss Clinic has proven that this customized weight loss program is different and it’s sustainable. Owner and President David Paull, the son of Stephen Paull - one of the company’s original founders – still leads Medical Weight Loss Clinic even today.
So while you wait for shoulder pads to come back into style, we’ll still be here, doing what we do best, like the Goose to your Maverick.
“We have the success stories to prove it works,” Smith said. “Our commitment to helping our patients lead better lives endures.”
