Medical Weight Loss Clinic serves those who protect us all

Medical Weight Loss Clinic is proud to continue its support of community organizations at The Detroit Arsenal and that includes the Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation Division (MWR).  Many people know the campus as The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command, or TACOM.

“We have been a proud sponsor since 2009,” said Tracy Strieter, MWLC Community Relations Director. “In 2014 when Medical Weight Loss Clinic began offering Corporate Wellness and onsite lunch and learn programs, The Detroit Arsenal welcomed our services with open arms.”

Since then, Medical Weight Loss Clinic professionals have held sessions on site  at the Detroit Arsenal and Selfridge Air National Guard Base two to three times per year. The Michigan-based weight loss company has participated in all MWR wellness events, and the staff helps to provide monthly healthy eating tips to more than 7,000 of its staff, military and contract team members.

George Bournias manages commercial sponsorship for the Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation Division of the U.S. Army in southeast Michigan. He’s worked with the Medical Weight Loss team since this partnership began in and says “it ranks very high among my favorite organizations.”

“This relationship is one of our most valued as it has enabled us to provide our programs, services and venues to members of the Military, their family members and Veterans,” Bournias said.

That’s one reason he presented Medical Weight Loss Clinic leadership and staff with a formal MWR certificate of appreciation on July 27, 2020 at their Warren location.

We’re proud to earn this recognition from the U.S. Army’s Detroit Arsenal for our role in partnering to provide healthy programs in our community.

We’re proud to earn this recognition from the U.S. Army’s Detroit Arsenal for our role in partnering to provide healthy programs in our community.

This division of the U.S. Army offers programs, services and activities for U.S. Army Soldiers and their families that they wouldn’t normally be able to afford. These programs are designed to relieve stress, build strength and resilience, and help the Army Family stay physically, mentally, and financially fit. Programs include health expos, healthy eating classes, foods to avoid during the holiday season and tips to get the most out of outdoor activities.

“The ‘It Fit Tips’ from Medical Weight Loss Clinic go out to over 7,000 Detroit Arsenal and Selfridge Air National Guard Base colleagues every month and promote health foods, healthy eating and healthy living,” said Bournias. “During Covid-19 and the general stressful demands existing today, wellness needs to be a major thrust and this is very popular information and very much appreciated. I feel like Medical Weight Loss Clinic is so very important to our workforce and has helped many colleagues maintain a healthy life style.”

Strieter said she’s so proud to help support these initiatives.

“We are proud to say that we have helped those that join Medical Weight Loss Clinic to not only save money with a corporate discount but also lose over 6 tons of weight,” she said.

The partnership seems to be a perfect fit.

“Medical Weight Loss Clinic is all about helping out in the communities in the areas they have clinics,” she added. “With the Detroit Arsenal being right around the corner from our Warren clinic and Selfridge Air National Guard Base by our Chesterfield, Clinton Township and Grosse Pointe Woods clinics, we are able to positively impact several communities - and help the military families who have served or are serving to protect us.”
