Join Medical Weight Loss Honored Champions at these summer events

As the weather gets nicer, Medical Weight Loss Clinic staff and patients prepare to lace up their walking shoes for several community events that support important health causes.

For several years, MWLC has supported multiple events for the American Heart Association, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and the American Diabetes Association.

“Medical Weight Loss Clinic believes that dynamic events like these upcoming events will help increase visibility and raise awareness of these medical conditions and chronic illnesses,” said Tracy Strieter, certified wellness practitioner and community relations director for MWLC.

She sees a natural connection between these causes and MWLC’s work.

“Heart disease and diabetes is prevalent with our patients, and our services have a positive impact on their health. We have several patients who, after utilizing our services, are able to discontinue some or all of their medications,” Tracy said. “Learning how to eat healthy and maintaining a healthy weight is key in the management of these conditions, and we want others who are dealing with these conditions to know that we can help.

Those with Crohn’s, IBD and/or colitis need to keep their immune systems as healthy as possible because they are battling a chronic illness, and once again, eating healthy is key. Our services not only provide weight loss for our patients they also teach our patients how to shop, prepare, cook and eat for long term weight management and health benefits.”

This year’s events are as follows:

May 11 – American Heart Association’s Washtenaw County Heart Walk at the Eastern Michigan Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti. Walkers can choose between a one or three-mile route.

June 8 - The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's 2019 Metro Detroit Take Steps for Crohn’s and Colitis Walk at the Southfield Civic Center.

Sept. 8 – American Diabetes Association’s Michigan Tour de Cure on Belle Isle. Participants can run, walk or ride various routes and distances.

Sept. 26 – American Heart Association’s 2019 Heart Walk/5K Scrub Run at Millennium Park in Walker, Michigan.

These are patients who are affected by diabetes, heart disease, stroke, Crohn’s or colitis and serve as an inspiration to others in the way they’ve made positive impacts on their health through MWLC programs.
