The COVID-19 concerns have impacted all of our lives and created some uncertainty about the future. Many of us have been encouraged to work from home – for the first time. If you find yourself working from home and faced with temptation from being in proximity to the kitchen and tempted to snack, we’ve got some great advice to help curb the cravings.

Tabitha Panetta, training supervisor at Medical Weight Loss Clinic, says that pre-planning is the key to staying healthy in your new work environment. “Without structure and routine, you could you find yourself eating more than you realize,” she says.

Stay on track and use your journal to your advantage. It can be a powerful tool for pre-planning meals and snacks, and a great way to stay on track with your food and beverage intake.

“It will help you be accountable to your normal structure,” says Panetta. “Trying to maintain your routine will help you stay on your diet in times we feel things are not in our control.”

For moments that feel out of control when it comes to your weight loss journey, call your local Medical Weight Loss Clinic and set up a phone visit. Contact with our team is so much more than just a chance to step on the scale or take your blood pressure; it’s a time to focus on you – how you’re feeling, how your health journey is going and what can be done to enhance it.

“Our one-on-one counseling - even if it’s on the phone - is important to keep your goals top-of-mind,” Panetta says. “During times like these, focus on what you can control and rely on what you’ve learned. Portion control and structured eating are still the focus whether you are in the clinic or not. You are successful because of the changes you are making and they can be continued. You can do this!”

Don’t be afraid to try something new, too. Go outside for a walk, find some new activities you can enjoy in your home. “Now that you are home more often it can be a great time to finally try that online yoga class or get into a meditation routine,” Panetta advises.

Stay focused on your health and well-being. Try phone visits, keep journaling and get some exercise. It will make all the difference.
