Picturing Success: How a mother of 9 exceeded her health goals with Medical Weight Loss Clinic

As a mother of nine, Cindy Faubert was used to her weight fluctuating. Even in high school, she recalls, she struggled to keep some extra weight off. She counted calories and eliminated carbs and sugar from her diet. Though she’d lose some weight she never believed these were sustainable ways to get – and stay – healthy.

She tried an array of programs, but it wasn’t until she walked into Medical Weight Loss Clinic in August 2020 that she found the right one for her. In less than six months she went from a starting weight of 182 pounds to 127 pounds. She dropped from a size 14/16 to a size 2/4.

“The consultation was free,” she recalls. “And that was appealing to me. There was no commitment. I liked what I heard. I am 41 and it’s about being healthy… 182 pounds was a lot of weight on my joints and my frame.”

Cindy embarked on a healthy journey with the Freedom 3 Plan, which is rooted in real food. “I didn’t want a bunch of pre-packaged stuff,” she says. “When I started to see results, I was really happy. That absolutely helped me stay on track. 

Though some days were easier than others, she never veered off course. She’s never cheated on her program at all. Even on weeks when her weight wouldn’t budge, when she’d hit a plateau, her Medical Weight Loss Clinic counselors talked her through it.

“They were very encouraging,” she says.

Her biggest craving through the process? Salt.

Cindy was always accustomed to adding salt to her food - even before tasting it. On the program, that isn’t possible. She says she’s still waiting for the day she’s able to include some additional salt back into her diet, though she doesn’t “miss it too much.”

Paying for the program was also a motivating factor. She signed up in advance for a year-long plan and began going to the Grand Rapids location twice each week. Despite the 35 minute drive from home, she looked forward to the check-ins and still does. She receives support not only from her team at Medical Weight Loss Clinic, but also from her family.

Her children range in ages from 2 to 19. Her husband, and older daughters and son vocally cheer on her efforts, asking for updates after her weigh-in and providing hugs of encouragement. 

Cindy’s original goal was to reach 150 pounds. “I did not think it was possible to get down that low,” she adds. “It gave me a lot of confidence back.”

But once she hit that goal, Cindy kept on going. At 5’ 2” the healthiest weight for her frame ranges between 104 and 140, so she aimed for 135 pounds to get her BMI into an ideal place.

And after the scale read that number, she continued onward.

“I’m a size I have never been in my entire life,” Cindy says, gleefully. “The program was easy to follow,” she says. “I do well with rules. I don’t do well with moderation. I love food.”

And that’s still the case. She’s able to cook foods she likes, she isn’t hungry and Cindy’s moving along to a maintenance program that will help her keep the weight off.
