This holiday season, Medical Weight Loss Clinic patient Kim Harmon plans on losing extra pounds – not gaining them.
Kim noticed our Shelby Township clinic location just driving down the road in her hometown and decided to stop in to learn more. She signed up on Oct. 2, 2023 with a goal is to lose 40 pounds. She’s aiming to reach 25 pounds down by Christmas. While Kim has not been on her customized program long, she’s already seeing great results.
“It’s going really good,” she says. “Very well. I’ve lost 15 pounds since October!”
Kim says she’s most surprised by the kinds of food and amount of food she eats on her plan.
“The biggest challenge is when I first joined and they showed me what I had to eat,” she says. “It was too much food! I’m eating what I am supposed to eat now.”
At first, Kim struggled with it. She was used to restrictive diets and typically eating one full healthy meal a day along with a smoothie and her morning coffee. When she’s stumped at the grocery store to find the right kind of ingredient, she calls the clinic and asks for advice.
“They’re right there,” she says.

“I look up different recipes and make them,” she says. “They’ve all been big hits!”
Kim uses the search tool to choose ingredients she feels like making – something with chicken or beef, for example. And then she reads through recipes until she finds one that sounds best. She’s been cooking for herself, her husband, her son – and even her grandson on occasion. The whole family is eating healthier.

It focuses on healthier ways to enjoy the holidays, while Medical Weight Loss Clinic patients like Kim can still rely on the rest of the online recipes to find what fits right into her program.
“I’m learning how to eat and what to eat,” she says with confidence.
She isn’t waiting around or being hard on herself if there is a slip-up, either. In the past, if she got off track from her diet, she’d stay off course for the week and think “I’ll start fresh on Monday.” But it was never easy to get on track.
“If I have a single cheat day, I know I am not going to gain 10 pounds.”
Kim says she’s not waiting until January to start working toward her healthy goals. Instead, she is already well on her way to her ideal weight.
