Adam’s story…
For Medical Weight Loss Clinic patient Adam Scheinfield, a healthier relationship with food has created numerous benefits in his life, including finally seeing results at the gym.
“For most of my life, I have battled weight gain and some loss,” he says. “I have always been a very active person in sports and working out at the gym, but results were negligible because of my struggle with food and my improper eating habits.”
Adam signed up for a customized Medical Weight Loss Clinic program at the Farmington Hills location and saw firsthand how our approach stands out.
“Unlike other programs, Medical Weight Loss Clinic really gives you a great balance of food options to eat during the weight loss period,” Adam says. “Being someone who is a volume eater, the protein supplements (shakes and bars) are a great way to curb my cravings through the day.”
The flexibility of food options and education about eating right along with support from visiting the clinic three or four times a week helped Adam stay on track. He lost 30 pounds and about 9 inches in just 12 weeks.
“I have noticed that years of weightlifting and working out is finally beginning to show. Now that is a huge boost to the ego,” he says, adding that he has more confidence at the pool and gym too.
The benefits of Adam’s weight loss go beyond fitness.
“People on social media have also noticed that my face and body have seen a reduction in size,” says the 45-year-old. “It feels good when people see the changes and compliment me on the hard work.”
Adam has also experienced a drastic improvement in the severe acid reflux and heartburn he had developed in recent years.
“It became life altering,” Adam says. “The discomfort and pain were so intense that it would wake me up, and in some cases, I began to choke due to the reflux. Even with numerous medications prescribed, different ways to sleep (side, back, etc.) nothing worked. I felt at a total loss.”
That all changed as he dropped unwanted weight.
“At this moment, my reflux has almost completely disappeared without the use of any medication,” Adam says. “This was an unexpected gift of losing weight. This byproduct is just one of the thank-yous my body has given me.”
Going All-In for Success
Adam encourages others starting a Medical Weight Loss Clinic program to “go all in.”
“This is not as difficult as people think,” he says. “Just follow the program and utilize the resources given by Medical Weight Loss Clinic and visit the clinic three or four times a week, if possible. This is important especially when starting the program. In-person visits provide a way to talk about your challenges.”
He says it’s important to find a new hobby or something else to focus on besides food but to also give yourself a “cheat snack or meal occasionally.”
However, to keep that from going too far and to stay motivated, Adam suggests you give yourself credit for the progress you’ve made.
“Just go and look at your before and after pictures,” he says. “You look good!
For Adam, a big key to his success is that his wife and kids have been so supportive of him and have even improved their own lives as a result.
“The beautiful byproduct of this weight loss is the cleaner eating habits of the entire family,” he says. “I love the fact that my biggest supporters are also with me on this journey.”
