My story…
On March 17, 2016 I was at my highest weight of 253 lbs. and my lowest of lows of how I felt about myself. I was depressed, felt awful, tired, and way overweight. I had been to MWLC in the past and had success. However, I couldn’t stop drinking alcohol and overeating. I made the decision that day to fix it. I wanted to lose weight, get off my high blood pressure medication and just feel better. I wanted to make sure I could enjoy the years I had left.
As a police officer and a professional standup comedian, my weight loss has boosted my confidence in both careers. It feels great to know I can handle myself as a police officer and it is also great to know that fat doesn’t always equal funny! I want to be an example to others and prove that you don’t have to be unhappy and unhealthy. You can make a change. If I can do it anyone can!
How has my life changed?
Once I began the program, I did everything I was told to do. They always say to lose weight you have to diet and exercise. I did exactly that, I watched what I ate and exercised every day. I feel fantastic. Since losing 45 lbs, I have gone down 2 sizes XXL to Large. I am off all blood pressure and cholesterol medications. I have energy - I can run 6 miles without stopping! I have never felt better! I am still working on losing even more weight. I am 9 lbs. from being under 200 lbs. I haven’t been under 200 lbs. since 1993! I have signed up to run a half marathon in the fall.
My advice to others:
My advice to others is this: DONT QUIT. Keep trying! Listen to the advice and follow the plan. You will have set backs. You will plateau. Keep going. Don’t be influenced by others. Use people’s negative opinions of you as fuel to be a better you. DO something physical everyday - walk, run, lift weights anything just to try to sweat.
